Harriet Tarbuck (b.1980) is a photographic artist, curator, educator and business owner. Harriet creates inclusive and diverse community engagement projects that highlight her skills in project management, fundraising, education and bringing community together. 

Harriet is a Co-Founder and Creative Director behind Photo Collective, an organisation dedicated to creating opportunities for artists and finding meaning and knowledge through photography. Photo Collective operates Australian Photography Awards, Stories and Australian and New Zealand Photobook Awards alongside producing photobook publications, commissioned articles, exhibitions, public talks, educational programs and the Photo Collective Magazine. Photo Collective advocates for the changing face of Australian photography and celebrates the diversity of what it is to be an Australian photographer today. Harriet’s latest project is the development of When Harri met Sally - A Photography Podcast, which brings insight from professionals in the photography industry, to the great public. 

Through her personal and commercial practice, Harriet specialises in the areas of portraiture and documentary photography. Since completing her photographic studies at Leeds College of Art and Design in the UK, Harriet has lived and worked across Australia, the UK and Asia, creating connections with people through a desire to hear their stories. Across all aspects of her work, Harriet aims to show that through our own unique experiences, there are genuine threads that connect us all.

Since completing my photographic studies at Leeds College of Art and Design in the UK, I have spent my time fostering community engagement through photography, while living in Naarm / Melbourne. Along with business partner Tom Goldner, I am a Co-Creative Director behind Photo Collective. Photo Collective operates Australian Photography Awards, Stories and Australian Photobook Awards, alongside producing a biannual publication (Photo Collective Magazine), photobook publications, commissioned articles, exhibitions, public talks and educational programs. Photo Collective is an organisation dedicated to finding meaning and knowledge through photography. We advocate for the changing face of Australian photography and celebrate the diversity of what it is to be an Australian photographer today.
